We approached Big Apple Ballroom as non-dancers to get some basic choreography for our wedding first dance, but it quickly became so much more! We came in once a week for several weeks and learned the basics of a bunch of different ballroom dances. Then, once we figured out which dances we liked, we began working on the specific "first dance" choreography which felt less like a memorization exercise and more natural since we had already learned some fundamental moves. The Big Apple team also edited the song we were using to make it more user-friendly for our dance and the band. We've continued dancing with Big Apple Ballroom weekly since our wedding. The team of instructors are all very fun, welcoming, and incredible teachers. The studio is bright with a great sound system. They also host great dance-related social events and we are considering doing some ballroom competitions with the team.

Ozlem's story starts more than 15 years ago when she competed in Open Ballroom as an Amateur and Pro/Am competitor. After taking time off for her kids and the many curveballs life threw her way, she's back on the floor with us dancing Rhythm and Ballroom. The environment here is protective, encouraging, and completely free of ego.
