Mazen Hamza
American Smooth & Movement Analysis
Mazen Hamza is a ballroom coach, adjudicator, and competition organizer with more than 20 years in the field. Together with his partner, Izabela, he runs MI Dance, an independent studio brand built outside the franchise system. As a professional competitor, Mazen was a six-time U.S. National Vice Champion and thirteen-time National Finalist in American Smooth.
A Certified Movement Analyst (LIMS, 2023) and Kestenberg Movement Profile practitioner, Mazen brings a movement-based perspective to ballroom coaching. Drawing on Laban/Bartenieff Fundamentals, he works with body organization, coordination, and movement dynamics to help dancers understand not just how a movement should look, but why it works.
His teaching combines the practical demands of competitive ballroom with a deeper understanding of how the body organizes movement, giving dancers tools they can apply beyond individual steps and choreography.
