JT Thomas started in ballet, jazz, and tap in Phoenix, took a BFA in dance at the University of Arizona, and found American Smooth in San Diego before she moved to New York.
With Tomas Mielnicki she won the U.S. National Professional Smooth Championship in 2007 and 2009, and the World Professional Smooth Championship in 2007 and 2009. They were coached by Edward Simon at Dance New York.
She now coaches and adjudicates. At Big Apple Ballroom she is a visiting coach, and she is on the coaching team for Rerun: Don’t Touch That Dial.
