Welcome to the Big Apple Geoff

Our newest instructor Geoff comes to us fresh off of earning his Bachelor’s Degree in Political Science at the University of Georgia. What does he plan to do with that hard earned degree? “Dance my a** off!”

Geoff is a huge fan of the American Swing dances. He’s currently on the Rising Star Circuit in the West Coast Swing World, and he and his routine partner Abi took first place at the 2023 Grand National Dance Championships. He’s got seven more stops on the Rising Star Tour this year before it culminates at the US Open Swing Dance Championships in Burbank, CA during Thanksgiving weekend.

Geoff also loves Lindy Hop, to the point where he finds it hard to pick a favorite dance. “It’s kind of a 1A, 1B situation. They’re both such incredibly fun dances, and I love the ‘language’ they use to connect with a partner. The opportunity to do one or the other almost every night, and to be in the birthplace of swing, was one of the things I was most excited about moving up here for.”

The other part that has Geoff so excited about being here? “I love choreographing, and competing. There’s so many ways to get into that up here, and I’m actively seeking out chances to perform and compete.”

Geoff pairs has expertise in West Coast Swing and Lindy Hop with a championship caliber background in American Smooth and Rhythm. We’re so excited for him to make a home with us at Big Apple Ballroom!
